After Four Years: How Far Have We Gone? Not Far.

To all members of the Peace Corps Community,

Four years ago, four NPCA staff members submitted a Complaint of Gender Discrimination and Request for Remedial Measures to the NPCA Board of Directors.

Our asks were simple:

One year later, the employment of CEO Glenn Blumhorst had ended with severance. Dan Baker was named interim CEO. The NPCA Board of Directors took steps to form various committees and offer listening sessions to the community.

After Four Years: NPCA still works with Glenn Blumhorst. He contributed to an article for the Peace Corps Worldwide Substack, promoted by NPCA. NPCA promotes Peace Corps Park where Glenn Blumhorst is Chief Advancement Officer where he directly interacts with the Peace Corps Community. One author of the complaint was blocked by Zoom to use their account because of a complaint from NPCA and they are still blocked on social media platforms. Why is Glenn continuing to be rewarded with promotion? While efforts have been made to highlight Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts and ethos for NPCA, an organizational policy has not been developed.

There is still work to do, even in this challenging time. We still see hypocrisy between what NPCA says it stands for and what it does. Staff members who supported Glenn are still there and have not changed.

NPCA announced a new CEO. We want progress.
Peace Corps is strong when its community is strong.
